🏀 The Rise of the Point Centers: Jokic, Wemby, Alpi & The New NBA

The NBA is changing, bro.

This ain’t your dad’s league with Shaq just camping in the paint waiting to dunk on fools.

Now?
Centers are running the offense.
They’re dropping dimes like prime Steve Nash — but in a 7’2” body.
That’s scary.

🪄 Jokic: The Chubby Serbian Maestro

Jokic is basically a point guard trapped in a bear’s body.
Reads the floor like Neo in the Matrix.
No-look passes, insane touch, calm under chaos.
Bro literally won 3 MVPs moving at half speed.

Who does that?

🦄 Wemby: The Alien Playmaker

Wemby is a glitch in the simulation.
7’4” with crossover handles, stepbacks, defensive rotations like a guard.

Now he’s already throwing skip passes and running pick-and-rolls as the ball handler.
The league’s cooked.

🧙‍♂️ Alperen Şengün: Turkish Delight with Vision

Alpi is like baby Jokic with a little more flair.
Watch him on the low block — spin fakes, footwork, up-and-unders, then suddenly a bullet pass to the corner.

He’s got that European feel.
Doesn’t rush. Always scanning.
Give him a few years, he might lead centers in assists.

🔥 The Evolution of Big Men

Back in the ‘90s:

  • Post hooks.

  • Elbows.

  • Slow double teams.

Now in 2025:

  • They’re bringing it up like guards.

  • Calling out sets.

  • Running two-man games with shooters.

It’s not a gimmick anymore — teams build around these dudes.

💭 My Take?

I’m here for it.
Basketball is at its smartest.
Watching a giant orchestrate an offense is pure art.

Old heads will cry “soft era” but this is actually harder.
Try being 7-foot, dribbling, reading the floor, and still getting back for a chase block.

🤔 What do YOU think?

Is this the most skilled version of basketball we’ve ever seen?
Or do you miss the days when big men just tried to break the rim?

Drop your takes below 👇 I’m all ears!
